Capital Radio 2-14: Hearts for Lincoln’s Birthday

Lincoln’s birthday brought a handful of songs that mention Abe, and I was surprised I couldn’t find more.

But Valentine’s Day is imminent — and there were more than three times as many songs we played about that.

In between, on today’s Capital Radio, there were birthday nods to producer and bassist Bill Laswell, turning 69 today; the drummers Omar Hakim, 65; and Vincent Montana Jr., born this day in 1929; as well as Lorne Greene (1915) and Michael McDonald (turning 72).

But we began with a salute to the great guitarist Wayne Kramer of the MC5, who died Feb. 1 at 75. (Here’s a story I wrote about that).
