#BHMPH is volume 88 of MPH: Music Philanthropy and History in the Mosh Pit Hell of Metal Punk and Hardcore on Cygnus Radio. The annual Black History Mosh Pit Hell happens Friday 9 February beginning 22:00 USEST (10pm nyc), from the Isle of Misfit toys, with the doormouse, dmf.

Tune in to #BHMPH for our annual homage to the contributions of black musicians on metal punk and hardcore, including nasty newer numbers by Arka’n Asrafokor, Ad Infinitum, Wrust, Oceano, Jesus Piece, Skinflint, plus classic cranial crushers from Duma, Vein, Alkiniah, Sound Barrier, Oceans of Slumber, Reflux, Last Year’s Tragedy, Mortal Soul, As Oceans, Krosis, and ripping requests for Suffocation, Threshold, Crisis, Candiria and More.

I’ve always had a bit of a mixed feeling doing shows like #BHMPH. Great music shouldn’t have come down to showcasing it based on ethnicity, gender, religion or other marginalized status and generally on MPH noise radio the musical tapestry is agnostic. However, to pretend all musicians were (or even still are) treated equally seems narrow-mindedly privileged. Therefor, in celebration of Black History Month we’re moshing to black legacies and learning about the Black Music Therapy Network, and how they impact communities of color in need.
