Capital Radio 12-23: Festivus and Other Holidays

On the day designated for airing of grievances and feats of strength, there was no way we couldn’t celebrate Festivus, for the rest of us. But who knew there were a half dozen songs about the holiday that made itself known through a 1997 episode of “Seinfeld”?

There were a lot of other holidays to celebrate this week, though, from solstice to Wednesday’s double whammy of Hannukah and Christmas. Of the latter, there were a dozen variations on “Little Drummer Boy,” including one especially recorded for us by Wayne Coyle of Flaming Lips (via Cameo).

A tribute, following the deaths last week of Mark Brewer of Brewer & Shipley, folkie David Mallett and Replacements replacement guitarist Slim Dunlap, got us started.
