Capital Radio 4-21: Egg Rolls and The Pope

The papal death this morning led to a hastily organized opening set spotlighting the pope in pop from artists that included Prince, Donovan, Joe Pernice and Pope Francis himself, from his 2015 rock album. We also paid tribute to Nino Tempo, Larry Welch and even Win Martindale, who was a recording artist before he was a game show host.

The annual Easter Egg Roll held down the street today inspired more than an hour about eggs and rolling, for that matter. It was also the birthday of Iggy Pop, turning 78 and Robert Smith of The Cure, turning 66, as well as Ira Louvin, born this day in 1924. Closed with some more Prince, who died this day in 2016 at 57.
