Finally getting around to posting a couple of radio shows from the beginning of the month, pre-recorded before I was out of the country for a couple of weeks. Aug. 4 was the anniversary of the first ever Billboard Hot 100 so we revisited some of the well known and not so well known songs from the top 20 or so, topped by Ricky Nelson’s “Poor Little Fool.”
It was also Louis Armstrong’s 124th birthday will be celebrated, and that of session man Larry Knechtel, whose keyboards, guitar and bass were heard on dozens of songs you know. We also noted the birthdays of people from Timi Yuro to Barack Obama.
We closed with selections from newer albums released by The Feelies, James McMurtry and Bruce Springsteen.
